What does ReadMe cost?
Trying it costs nothing and needs no sign-up: you create a story and read it yourself. For classroom use, meaning distribution to your class, longer stories and the full statistics, there are paid plans. Try first, decide later.
Do my students need an account?
Not for reading. You share a story by QR code or email and your students start reading right away, with no install. For trying ReadMe out that is the fastest way. For ongoing work it is better when everyone registers: signed-in users can use the app on several devices, and working together in class goes more smoothly.
Where is our data stored?
Personal data, meaning names, student profiles and learning progress, is stored exclusively at Hetzner in Germany. AI providers receive only anonymous creative instructions such as topic, genre, age group and language level, never personal data. Our data processing overview lists every provider and what it processes.
Is ReadMe GDPR compliant?
We have concluded data processing agreements pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR with every provider that processes personal data. Product data is held on servers in Germany, and AI providers receive no personal data. Our legal texts are maintained by IT-Recht Kanzlei.
What devices do we need?
Any device with a browser will do, whether laptop, tablet or phone. Nothing has to be installed: your students scan the QR code or enter the code and start reading.
How long does it take to create a story?
A finished, branching story is ready in minutes, matched to your class, the genre and your learning goals. You enter topic, language and level, the AI does the rest. Distributing it to the class takes about another minute.
Can I review the AI content beforehand?
Yes, and nothing reaches your class without your release. You read the story in the preview and can edit individual sections. Before distributing, you confirm that you have reviewed the content and are releasing it for your students.
Which year groups is ReadMe suitable for?
From primary school to upper secondary. You choose the language level from A1 to C2, the age group and the year group, and ReadMe adapts text and tasks accordingly. For every story you can also generate a linguistically simplified version.
Does ReadMe work for language support classes?
Yes. Stories are written in 20 languages, and for every story you can generate a linguistically simplified version. Students tap any word they do not know while reading and get it explained.
What happens to our data if we stop using ReadMe?
You have the right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR at any time. Data that is no longer needed for its purpose is deleted; only where statutory retention periods apply, such as commercial and tax law, does the data concerned stay stored until that period ends. Our privacy policy lists all data subject rights.
